CC Photowalk maybe?
When I was in Tokyo earlier this year a few friends and I organized a photowalk around a few parts of the city with the goal of creating a pool of creative commons licensed images of the city. We had almost 20 people on the walk, some locals and some visitors and the photos taken that day (including the one above that I snapped in Harajuku) are amazingly cool. Better yet, they are all available for other people to use thanks to CC. I was thinking it might be cool to do something like that here while I’m in Vienna as well. I know there are some existing photowalk groups already in town and maybe this is something they’d be interested in helping out with? It’s a fairly simple idea, map out a rough route, grab cameras and go. Afterwards post them all to Flicker using a similar tag and license (we used attribution/non-commercial/share-alike). It was a fun thing todo during the day, but also is helping build a resource of images that other people can use when they need something representing the city. Would anyone be interested in doing something like that?
you might want to post an announcement to this local group on flickr. it’s highly active and I guess you should find some people there who would be interested joining you…
I’m in!
we should definitely do it…
maybe with some kind of topic, or a specific district
I’m in as well!
So, did this happen or is it “in the works”? I posted to the most active Flickr group, but I didn’t see a *ton* of response. That being said, were it set in stone, we could get something going on — of this, I am certain.
My only constraints are that I’m w/o car and would prefer not to have to spend hours on transportation… Something central with beer in the middle and ends is great for me.
My first Vorschläge would be:
A) Hunt and Reconstruct the Habsburgs — you must photograph all their individual body parts to reconstruct them. This, however, would require entrance fees to some of the crypts, I think — so probably scratch that.
B) “Little Istanbul”, as they call it.
C) Former Jewish quarter in the 1st District, which is utterly charming and has the best Platz in all of Vienna and is literally stacked with history.
D) Roman Vienna — finding and photographing any Roman remnants in the city.
E) The Flak Towers — trip to see all 3 sets of flak towers & their settings/current uses. Would be transit intensive and, of course, we can’t get close to the one that’s in the military installation.
F) Street art collection — pick a couple areas and document the street art.
G) 2nd District exploration — simply because I never get there much and it appears to be about as ethnically diverse of an area as one could expect to find.
F) Hunt the Bobos.
G) Pick an architect or something and see their stuff — Maybe Josze Plecnik?
