A silent homage to Carmen Sandiego

If you’re about my age, and had access to cable tv and/or a computer as a kid, you’ll probably remember “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?” The concept of the game show/computer game was to find said Ms. Sandiego’s location based on geographic clues. Some people over at flickr decided to revive the concept with “Guess Where” groups. People post a picture of a part of a city to the group, and the other members have to guess where exactly that picture was taken. The difficulty level ranges from trivial to inhuman, and it’s a great way to learn about your city and have some fun in the process.

Our own Scott Partee, who was one of the admins of the Guess Where, Atlanta group is now co-administrating the Guess Where, Vienna pool. With 175 pictures already in the pool, there’s enough to guess and explore for everyone. And in case you didn’t know, that array of nuclear waste containers up there is an art installation at the Marienbrücke near the Obere Donaustraße.
