60 Pencils for 5,90 euro

Cats, if you are somewhat artsy you know how expensive charcoal pencils are. Oh yes, we know that, dont we? For sure we do.

My mother dragged me to the local Sewa store around the corner and guess what i found:

sewa.jpg

12 drawing pencils (They arent THAT fantastic, but good enough for quick sketches)
12 charcoal pencils (Same, but perfect to master bigger spaces without wanting to waste the really expensive ones)
12 colour pencils (Rather good, i must say)
12 metallic pencils (Metal.Well, yeah. Maybe you need them…)
12 waterpaint pencils (Goody goody.)

for 5,90 eur its rather good. If they arent good enough for you, kids will certainly appreciate it.

No, this not a paid commercial (they didnt give me some weed to make me post this), and yes this sentence is sarcasm. Sue me.

the pencils are different sizes. but the charcoal not, unfortunately not. :/ i would say they are lower, maybe middle quality. nothing compared to the ones from the Art shops. but the thing is, for quick sketches they are doing rather well, and i hate to waste my exepensive ones.

    iWolf,

the one i bought the pencils from is located at Josefst

wow, really great tip, thanks! if i was using paper and some of the various devices for marking it with colour at all, i would so totally be getting this set. i want more vienna-specific shopping tips here!

so, was it a paid commercial after all? with the sentence saying it wasn’t being alledgedly sarcastic? and where do i file the lawsuit?

i heard that the sewa-chain belongs to sect-guru sri chinmoy and the employees are followers of his cult. first of all i regarded it as an urban legend, but the weird salespeople there, google and my grandma let me now think it’s true…

The above comment is of course entirely untrue.

“(they didnt give me some weed to make me post this)” wasnt clear enough, i guess.

but yeah, they are some weird people. agreed. but on the other hand, i couldnt care less about them hugging trees or kissing bugs, or whatever they do. i like the pencils.

The stores were originally called “SEnsationsWAren” (sensational wares) and belong to the Sri Chimoy-sect. There are rumors that the stuff is so cheap because it’s produced by the sect members. Just in case someone cares.
