A nice thing to do on a sunday afternoon/night in winter is to go ice-skating. We went to the famous Engelmann yesterday, which is a great skating rink at the top of a shopping center in the 16th district. The family Engelmann does not only operate rinks since 1909 it also has a lot of famous sons and daughters being ice-skating-world champions and the like. Here’s a link to their interesting history.
Now, what is so great about ice-skating? It brings back childhood and teenage memories (Your desperate and never succesfull attempts to impress Your peers, the taste of gummi bears), it gives You sore muscles the day after but a lot of fun while skating (OK, it also gives You all kind of aches WHILE skating, especially if You fall, ouch!), it gave me the opportunity to listen to christmas-songs without hating it. It’s really OK to listen to Roger Whittaker while taking your laps on the ice.
Summary: It’s wonderful! Go for it! Does anybody want to sell her skating shoes? I wanna buy them!
