The good, the bad and the ugly
Reading the articles written by Washington Post and The New York Times raise a few questions concerning their coverage of Dr. Kurt Waldheim. And if you aren’t a careful reader, you would end up believing what you read.
Like any soldier of war, if you desert your troop, you are ordered to be sentenced. And if you disagree to the ruling government or ideology, you better hide or else you are dead. This is more or less the scenario during this era.
Despite the negative mood that the US mainstream media create about him, this memorial tablet goes to show that if you were a non-Jew/non-gypsy/non-gay Austrian and not a pro-Nazi but a communist/socialist that time you would be dead.
Just like the Viennese Viktor Christ, an ordinary citizen who was murdered in 1941 by the Nazis.

Caffeine versus Me and the other girl
One of the best things i had today was an Icend Mint Moccacino at the local Coffeeshop. Whats the Coffeeshop anyways? Well, dear caffeine-loving-readers, its the austrian answer to Starbucks.
Coffeeshop offers a wide range of different coffees, including the more or less american Oreo-shake-iced-whatever its called (mind you, i had 3 Moccacinos myself. in the past hour. i can type faster than a weasel on speed),
various iced coffees with different flavours, incridients and different kinds of milk. low fat, soja milk, you name it.
I used to go to Starbucks rather often, but there were a few things that kinda annoyed me.
NO SMOKING. of course, you could sit outside. but hey. i am human, even if i smoke. the price, well, coffeeshop isnt cheaper. the people there, well, coffeeshop has the same nice people offering you a cake, cleaning your table, and genereally make you feel like a queen. or king. whatever fits your gender.
So, Starbucks versus Coffeeshop.
BRING IT ON!
Starbucks:
good about starbucks:
+ comfy enviroment.
+ always gave me the feeling i am an artist, sitting there working on a few sketches.
+ oh. and the strawberry shakes!
bad about starbucks:
- NO SMOKING.
- too many people (most of the time.)
- not too many cold coffee things. rather expensive.
Coffeeshop:
good about coffeeshop:
+ THEY GOT INTERNET THERE!
+ with lotsa computers, hooked up with headphones, webcams and all the goodies a geek might need.
+ many many different sorts of hot or iced coffee.
+ many foreigners.
+ AND SMOKING IS ALLOWED.
bad about coffeeshop:
+ there isnt one in my house. that sucks.
+ stuff isnt as cheap as i would like it.
so.
Coffeeshop victor! oh, latin, yes. anyways, coffeeshop rocks my world.
(edit: this was about a starbucks somewhere in the first district and about the coffeeshop at the Westbahnhof)

YAY FOR CAFFEINE AT LATE NIGHT!
