Have you seen the new mail boxes? You know, these silvery grey, horizontal miniatures that look very fragile?
They mounted the new mailboxes a week and a half ago but I only got to pay attention to them after a boy, a neighbour, insisted on “grabbing” the contents instead of using the key. His mother, perhaps, not having one, scolded the child for behaving so in front of me, a stranger.
I didn’t understand a single word they were talking because it was in Turkish.
Indeed one can just use his bare hands to snip into other people’s mails.
I have learned that these new mail boxes are meant to satisfy the competitors of Austrian Post Office for easy access to bring in more and more advertisements to private household. And to think they don’t even honour the “Bitte Keine Werbung” sticker in front of the door.
Freaking adverts especially if you get the Freedom Party’s nasty propaganda newsletter on the mail. That will send you to the edge and beat your chest why you must pay via tax to let Herr Strache and his cohorts use the money for their nonsense ideology.
–oo–
This is not an advertisement but a reminder that one of my favorite contemporary musicals based on Puccini’s “La Bohème,” “Rent,” starring most of the original Broadway members, will have its Austrian screening on the 9th of June this year. I am curious on what it has to offer.
