Vienna Opera Toilet

I think lots of you know the “Vienna Opera Toilet mit Musik” (…with music):

Its in the underground just around the corner of the viennese opera. Yesterday in the night - after the festival when I passed - they played - of course - popular classical music (should play more Rachnmaninov, Webern & Alban Berg). Yes, that’s normal that you hear popular classical music coming out of this toilet, that’s what you expect.
But I nearly couldnt believe: They mix to this music the sound of a brook in the mountains!!! And I tell you - if you have to go on the toilet, that’s damn inspiring…
They have really talented businesspeople there.

You have to pay fifty cents to get in. The funny thing is that you expect to be let in when you pop the coin into the machine, but when you then push the revolving gate the bloody alarm goes off. Almost every time I pass by, some poor tourist is setting the alarm off and looking around in utter confusion and embarressment.

Once, on my way out after doing my thing, I noticed some bloke setting the alarm off after paying. I confidently approached him with the air of someone who’d call you ‘Sonny’ and told him not to bother paying and to jump over the gate instead. Just as I walked out, the security guard walked in. I still wonder if the bloke got caught.

Note: Apart from the sound of running water, the only music they play in there is Strauss’ “Blue Danube Waltz”. I sometimes wonder if people ever get too excited by it and start to waltz in there.
