At the Schnepfenwirt

Today I was introduced to the “Schnepfenwirt” tavern (a “Schnepfe” is some kind of bird, don’t ask me). Anyhow… it is located near U3 subway Schweglerstra

I’d love to comment on this in detail, but I have a nice juicy steak on the grill. :)

Fruitarians.. really, is that madness still around?

“Schnepfe” should be known as “snipe” to our Anglo-American friends. It used to be a tasty ingredient to mixed game platters. No idea if you still can get it anymore.

I remember a story of a Viennese tavern where they recommended a plate of “Saurer Wurst” (cold sausage with onions, vinegar and oil) for the average vegetarian.

a new term I learned recently :: “pescetarian”. a vegetarian who eats fish. for some reason, most vienna restaurants pretend that fish doesn’t count as flesh much to the dismay of all my vegetarian friends (indians tend to be these in large numbers!) I am fast growing tired of explaining it to the waiters! eggs I can understand, but fish???
