Vienna (Song #2)

This is Mr. Jose Feliciano.
Here is a live recording from 1987, together with the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra, conducted by a smoking Christian Kolonovits. I’m not sure if anyone out there knows this strange anthem… but it sure was a #1 hit in Austria.

The Vegetable Orchestra

Worldwide one of a kind, the Vegetable Orchestra (from Vienna) performs on instruments made of fresh vegetables. The utilization of various ever refined vegetable instruments creates a musically and aesthetically unique sound universe.

The Vegetable Orchestra will play a new composition as part of the net cultures festival Paraflows next week (Sept 20 @ MAK, Vienna).

Vienna (Song #1)

Ultravox’s big hit from 1980.

I guess you can imagine which spots they chose for the video…

Clock on

The Pope is coming.
And Vienna’s English grammar is freakin’ out.

Protect your noodle! FSM in Vienna!

I was just informed via email that tomorrow (September 7, 3 PM, in front of Karlskirche) there will be the first Austrian ‘Flying Spaghetti Monster’ demonstration! Join! Arrr!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in soup,

This friday, the most holy day of our year, which is every week, we call out to noodles and pirates alike to join us in a glorious manifestation of our wonderful moral principles, based on the beer volcano and the stripper factory. Bring your eyepatches, parrots and grog!
In the spirit of Friday, we shall give condoms to the unbelievers so that they may experience the true meaning of our motto “Protect your noodle!”.

Noodles are we, and Pirates we shall be.

RAmen.

SLUM-TV: First Newsreel Online!

0006la.jpg

The first newsreel of the Vienna-based SLUM-TV project, produced by their Nairobi SLUM-TV team, is online. Within the next days, you’ll also find a fantastic 15 min drama performed by Mediocre, from Mathare Slum, dealing with the Christian Church, online. The drama is very funny, but the languages are Suaheli and Sheng, so you may not understand the spoken text, but you’ll enjoy it a lot.

v-port Vernissage: www.motionlab.at

visualistinnen.jpg

Visuals and visual media installations have become an integral part of modern club culture and public environments. The artists creating visual experience with diverse media technologies are often invisible.

Today, visualists are on the verge of becoming an important professional group within art, event and party culture, and the media world. Technology is a central issue and has strongly influenced the artistic development of the scene:

VJ’s, projection designers, visual and media artists, philosophers, media theorists and pictorial scientists are working together to make Vienna an international hot spot for visual art and culture.

v-port is a new showroom of Vienna’s VJ-artists located in Museumsquartier Wien.

Opening: Tue, 4th September 19:00
