The information system installed in the subway some years ago, which shows the time till the trains arrive is a nifty and nice feature. It has it’s danger’s too.
In some stations you can see the timespan to the next train from across the street. I have witnessed many a people running through the traffic trying to catch a train.

Today a woman about fourty threw herself into the onrushing cavalcade of cars but with frogger-like recklessness made it to the other side. Risking her life just because this clock says: 1 minute till next train? Next, instead of heading directly to the platform she makes a hasty detour to pick up an issue of “Heute”, the free daily distributed in little boxes in the stations. When turning around - one minute just running out! quick quick quick - she stumbled and hit her head badly. Don’t ask me how she managed to do that exactly. That same moment the lights on the crossroad turned green and another man and me walked over to the lady to check if everything is okay with her. She claimed she doesn’t need medical treatment but obviously her head and ankle hurt.

And she sure missed her train. And the next one which was just three minutes off and she missed that one, too.

I think there is a lesson in there for all of us.
