The Opernballdemo (a left-wing demonstration along the Ringstraße against the kind of capitalism represented by, as the protesters see it, many of the well-to-do guests at the Vienna Opera Ball) has regularly taken place in the 80s, 90s and in recent years.

Viennese police forces usually use trucks like this one…

…to transport anti-protester metal barricades.

I think I’m getting old. Today I spotted one of the trucks on Mariahilferstraße… not on a demo.
