Nives Widauer’s “Meteorites”
Nives Widauer has developed, in her short films, installations and sets, a unique poetic language in the medium of video and photography. Her first installations are based on the discovery of and experience with real, specific spaces, which provide not only the starting point for the work but influence both its visual conception and content.
Since the beginning of the 90s Widauer’s principle interest has been in the crossings between visual arts, literature and theatre. Artistic borders between genres have been blurred in the course of the realization of complex installations and a variety of instruments in the media have been employed. What remains central is the search for the extention of spatial experience. An example of the successful attempt to let traditionally disparate realms of experience and research merge are the artistic and scholarly contributions to the recently published book: „Meteorites - that which falls upon us from afar”…

Tomorrow (March 14, 9 PM) she’ll present her book about meteorites at Kunsthalle Project Space, Karlsplatz.
