Elections and Feminism

Elections are soon, in case you somehow managed not to notice disgusting posters of grinning people telling you that vienna is becoming better if you vote for them. I actually think about calling the police and tell them that my personal space is being disturbed by a grinning HC Strache in front of my work. It just makes the whole working start worse if you see that guy grinning at you.
Anyways, besides of grinning people at every corner of the city the war for votes is on. It is totally on!
Did you know that the anthemn of our country discriminates women? Or are you one of the people that didnt notice it, cause you dont really give a fuck about a song that you hardly heard and sang the last time in elementary school? Well, you know, that song about how great our country is? I bet you somehow remember it.
Cause its election time, our politicians go crazy like anal probed monkeys and come up with the weirdest things. Today i read at the online standard, that our.. well… minister for women, well, you know the woman that deals with things about women and stuff, Miss Maria Rauch-Kallat, said that we indeed have to change our anthemn. Why, for heavens sake, you might ask. The point is, its evil cause its only about the great sons of austria, and no word about the great daughters. Really!

As an American (a foreigner) in Vienna, I think it’s funny that I keep getting handed propaganda from the FPO. I just thank them in proper English and ignore the look I get in responce. As if I’m allowed to vote here, and as if I would vote to keep myself out of Austria.

now thats an idea, Ben. talking in a foreign language to make them go away. sounds more … nice.. than screaming “I ONLY VOTE FOR STALIN, YOU FILTHY WORMS!”

in all honesty i have no idea how the national anthem goes … it can do with some corrections though … but since its not going to be on my ipod or cd list i dont care really …. i would rather they did something about equal pays for women … now thats something that would really interest me!

me seeing a lot of smiley faces on billboards and getting bored too especially straches smiley face … did you get that propaganda brochure in the post with him along with young happy (and probably all blonde) people and a dog on the cover? the amount of happiness in it was disgusting ;-)

Lefti, i only know the first part of it. the rest is.. well… not really stored in any parts of my brain. thankfully.
i totally agree with your statement about the unfair payment for women. that would be something that should really be done instead of changing an anthemn that nobody really cares for.

the guy wanted to give me a brochure but got scared when i screamed my Stalin statement. I do not wish to touch any propaganda! :)

fascinating… I dimly remember the anthem, but not too well. alas, our wonderful politicians are obviously doing their very best to make this homeland of ours a better place. I mean, I am indeed a woman, but I couldn’t care less. can’t this political correct gender-issue stop? and if they try to be politically correct, then they should seal shut hc strache’s mouth. and shoot most of the rest of our government (I’m thinking of a particular female here, very concerned for our great schools and universities).
or doe something important. being paid equally, for example.

If they’re already thinking of changing the words in the anthem, I suggest they also speed up the music and add a head-boppin, hip-shakin, thigh-slappin beat and a trumpet solo. Austria would then stand out as the only country whose anthem doesn’t make your thoughts wander.
