US Sector?

ussector.jpg

Who knows what this is?
Barbara (who was already sweet enough to send me a picture for a blog entry before) thinks it might be because of our “Gedenkjahr”. My suggestion is not smart enough to be presented online without risking that some nice men with nice white jackets show up to bring me to la la land.

Location: Mariahilferstrasse

The riddle is no riddle anymore. Thank you, TH!

This is a cool art project in the project 25peaces.

(Which I completely forgot to blog about, even though I hav pics of the first day. damn)

In short: there’s a few jeeps driving around in Vienna, manned by four guys in occupation troop uniforms just like the International Patrol (or “Die Vier im Jeep”) who paint the old sector borders on sidewalks all over Vienna.

Don’t know what it is but I have seen similar things elsewhere. In the Stadtpark the entire channel seem to be a “British sector” :)

I saw that on TV, I don’t remember if it’s an art or history project, anyway, they created the borders from WW2 again. I can’t find a link with more information, sorry :(

there was a similar project in upper austria, e.g. a bridge going over the autobahn adorned with a banner saying “you are now entering the US zone”. i don’t know if these were about the gedenkjahr / some related exhibition/project per se, or just part of the visualisierte klangwolke (which was utter shit).
