A pillar here and there…

Here you can see the entry to Meiselmarkt in 15th district. The door is an automatic 1, an electronic sliding door. If a sliding door is closed, people usually try to pass right in the middle, because there the door opens first and we all are used to that. But in Meiselmarkt they built - right in the middle of the door - a pillar. This pillar you don’t really perceive from outside if the door is closed.
Soooo…if you are bored go there and watch people who are surprised by the suddenly appearing pillar or watch them running straight in this intelligent construction.

At Kent State University the maintenance folks installed some similar nasty mullions in the middle of heavy-traffic entrances at the MACC (Indoor stadium/gym). They didn’t want to fix the perfectly fine brass door hardware already installed, I guess, and just installed something over top.
