Austria for Africa

Band Aid Revival.
Twenty years after the release, leading artists are set to re-record the Bob Geldof-inspired charity hit “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”

Do you remember the Austrian version of Band Aid? “Austria for Africa” with lots of weird looking 1980s Austropop stars?

I googled for “Austria for Africa” and I found a nice photoshop gem on the homepage of the comrades of “Maschek”.

there goes the republic.

this is a phrase i would expect from a 15-year old anarchist who has little to no knowledge about democracy, but not from a minister of the interior of a democratic state in europe. the constitution is the most important single piece of law in any democratic country - the fundament on which all other laws are built upon, laws we all have to abide. now, when you’re crossing the street while the traffic signs are red, you are breaking the law, but then, chances are about 8,174,762 to one that your job description does not include upholding the law and protecting austria’s democracy. this is one of mister strasser’s responsibilities. a minister of the interior openly announcing that he will ignore the constitution is about as intolerable as a minister of finances ignoring tax law. oh wait, we have that one, too.
in a way, strasser is right. not every law is good. there are quite a lot of laws in this country that could be called stupid, or just plain wrong - just remember the infamous

Dental laboratory Attila Suri

I’m a big fan of the bizarre display window design of Zahnlabor Attila Suri (Dental lab Attila Suri) located at Getreidemarkt.
Attila is changing the design 4 to 5 times per year and I’m eagerly awaiting each new concept.

Basically: This is Attila’s logo. He loves kiwis and the color green.

Some days ago he set up his Halloween decoration.

A neon tooth, dentures, Hellraiser and a mirror.

attila2.jpg

Itsy bitsy green spider, another neon tooth, a hand out of plaster holding false teeth and a plastic skull of unknown origin. Not to forget: the business card.

Last year Attila celebrated the first birthday of his lab. He built a cake out of teeth.
